We are getting in the thick of the season this year. If you are anything like me, you look forward to the fun activities, family times, and enjoying all the annual festivities. This year has put a damper on events for many of us. These tips can hopefully be fun and safe ways to enjoy family this season. We will have good days and bad days throughout this pandemic. But there is always hope. Because there are still people who are trying to create a brightness in the season. People who are creating light in times that feel dim.
This specific tip surrounds looking for those people in your life who are trying to spread kindness and love and say thank you. We as people were never meant to be separate from one another. Humans are social species. We thrive on human contact and the ability to connect with others. At some level we all understand why we are limiting contact and some people altogether eliminating contact, but we must be mindful of our mental state. Check in with yourself and those around you. Thank the people who are trying to spread love and kindness. It is not easy. There is often pain behind a big smile, but there is also healing.
In addition, check in with those around you who seem down, especially irritable, and emotional. This is important because people need to know they are not alone during this time. The holidays are often a time of excitement and enjoyment, but it can be a hard time for some. Add in the space and many restrictions it only amplifies the hardness for already struggling folks. Those who have experienced loss. In addition, those that may not have family or friends to spend the holidays with for all different reasons. Remind them they are not alone. Be there for one another and allow others to be there for you. As always Happy Holidays and Breathe Easy…
