Sara Barr

Licensed Professional Counselor

Sara is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from Walden University with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a proficiency in Gambling Addiction. Sara has worked predominantly in the addiction field for the past eighteen years but with that has gained a wealth of experience with regards to substance use disorders, gambling disorders, trauma, stress management/anxiety, self-esteem issues, healthy relationships, codependency, grief and loss, and depression. Sara approaches treatment and therapy utilizing a variety of theoretical orientations such as Solution-Focused, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. She also enjoys utilizing the Jungian approach to dream interpretation and has taken several courses through the honors college at the University of Pittsburgh from a board-certified Jungian Analyst. She also believes in a strength-based approach
which promotes individual strengths rather than focusing on our diagnosis.

In her spare time Sara enjoys all thing’s garden. She and her husband start all of the plants from seeds and each year continues expanding the garden. One of her favorite things to do in the Summer is lying in the hammock with a good book while listening to her chickens and ducks.
